is there anyway to recover data on a HD that does not spin? i've googled it, and there are services in which i can send my hd to professionals. any other options besides this?
 
SOMETIMES, it is possible that the board on the drive has gone.

IF this is the case, then you MIGHT be able to fix the drive by getting an identical drive [same model no., same version] and taking the board off the new one, putting it on the old one.
