Data recovery

Here in the lab I work in, we use PC Inspector File Recovery to get stuff off of corrupted floppies / scratched discs. It works about half the time.
 
As noted above, the "best" data recovery software depends on what's wrong with the drive. A hard mechanical failure often can't be fixed by ANY software by itself. Modest mechanical damage (such as bad sectors) can be worked around with suitable low- or mid-range software designed for this purpose. Logical errors on the drive are best repaired with software optimised for that kind of error.
