Sorry for posting this in multiple topics, just want to make sure everyone sees it. In a fit of indescribable stupidity, I created a new ~100 GB (on 2 ~50 MB disks) partition on an SGI IRIX machine at work, overwriting the one that was already there. My question is, is it possible to get the data back without any professional help or sophisticated/expensive software? I realize you guys may not have such specific information, but maybe you could link me to somebody who does or at least give me some URLs to point me in the right direction? I will be forever grateful for any constructive help or advice.
P.S
I'm not sure I actually formatted the disks. There's an option in the disk management GUI to create a "striped volume partition" which allows joining several physical drives. There is another option (which I didn't do) called Initialize, which actually formats the disk. This option gives multiple warnings that the data will be lost, but the option I used didn't give any warnings, as far as I remember. I guess that's why I didn't think anything bad would happen, I'm so used to Windows warning you 10 times before allowing you to screw something up
