Data Center Underground
Was just picking through some old bookmarks and happened to find this floating around in there. It's an older article, but it's still very interesting. What's even cooler is I've actually been to the mine that holds this data center and even seen the data center. They store a lot of stuff down there. It always stays at a comfortable 50 degrees. I've even had the privaledge of going into the deep far recesses of the mine up to the points that it's actually starting to collapse near the farthest ends. It's absolutely huge too! IF you ever get a chance to come up to Michigan, give a stop into Grand Rapids and head on over to the mine and check it out. They offer tours for $2 a person. You can even take a peak into the data center and some of the storage areas they have setup down there. Awesome place. 🙂
