I am trying to copy mp3's from a cd-rw to HD and I get this error ever so often

What does it mean and how do I fix it?

i dont know what to tell you then because every time i get that error its because a cd has been too scratched or very dirty

you might have scratched it when u wrote on it also because the data layer is closer to the to of the cd than the bottom

otherwise maybe your cd rom needs cleaning

otherwise copy the songs like 10-20 at a time

usually it will just be one or a couple of files that are affected

and you should be able to salvage everything else

Cyclical Redunancy Check (CRC) is a form of error checking that's on CD's. It basically adds extra data to check whether a set of data is correct. If you are getting CRC errors then either there's something wrong with the CD (or perhaps it's copy-protected, some music CD's are nowadays), or there's something wrong with the CDROM.
