I have 5 or so CD-RW's and I keep getting the error: data error (cyclic redundancy check). I never got it before and dont know what it is. I tried the cd-rw's in 6 different drives/computers and they all get the same error. Is there any way to correct this or is my data lost? thanks in advance.

Bump for you.
I need to know too.
I had the same Cyclic Redundancy Check on CDRW Ghost image.
Had to erase disk, image lost, it was activated copy of XP :(
Apparently one of the files was corrupted.

It either got scratched (Either side), too hot (Did you leave it in a car somewhere?), or there's obvious grime blocking it. Fix what you can fix... :)

CRC is an error checking method whereby the bytes of the file are run through a formula that returns a nearly unique numbe for that files contents. That number is recorded in the header and if the file doesn't render the same CRC when it is re-read, then either the header or the file has been corrupted. CDs are VERY good at correcting errors due to redundant sectors and such, but if you're getting that none of its methods worked.
