Data drive not spinning up after computer resumes from sleep mode.

I'm running Windows 7 with an SSD as my main drive and a WD Black as my data drive. When I put my computer to sleep and the data drive spins down, if I wake it up again it doesn't power back on. The only way to get it to come back is to restart the computer. Is there some feature I need to enable/disable to get it to work right? Soimething that may be causing it to spin down during sleep but not spin back up?

Posted this in GH, no luck.

TIA!

On my Win7 HTPC I sometimes need to wake it 'twice' in order to bring it back.
I also have an SSD for the OS and a HDD for data.
1. Push power button on remote (I can hear fans starting but screen remains black)
2. Once the PC sounds 'up' I put it back to sleep.
3. Then I wake it again and it comes up without any problems (the second time, I can hear the HDD coming up which definitively does not happen the first time)

I have had this exact problem with Vista and now Win 7 on my computer. Randomly, some data drives may not be recognized by Windows.

If this happens, just take time to reboot...

This is why I never let my hard drives sleep. This problem has been going on for years.

Yeah...same here...goes back to Win 98.

Although...with Win 7, the problem occurs only every other time, or every 3rd time coming out of sleep...as opposed to XP, where I had the problem every time.

Progress 🙂
