Data disappears

I have a 300gb IDE harddrive (NTFS) with some stuff I don't want to loose. When I plug it into my new machine it sees the drive as needing a format and it does not see any of the data. When I plug it back in my old machine it comes up fine and it sees the drive with all of the data.

Is there a way to put it in the new PC and have it see all my data?

I'm using Windows XP.

I would suggest you to post the system specs for both systems. My initial guess is that the computer you are trying to plug the drive into cannot read a 300gb drive. You might need a BIOS update or a separate IDE controller in that system for it to correctly recognize the drive.
