Data Corruption w/ Rounded Cables?

I just finished reading this article at Dan's Data about data corruption with rounded IDE cables. What is your experiences with this? I've noticed a lot of people on this board are using them. Any data problems? Been considering getting a set of them for a while but now I'm thinking otherwise... Thoughts?

Built 3 computers with round cables, both store bought kind and homemade one. Not one problem. Go for it.

When I purchasing my rounded cables the guy warned me that there were some crappy no-brand ones around that caused data loss. I'm not sure if he was talking from experience but the cables that I bought worked perfectly and in some hdd benchmarks the scores improved slightly.

So who buys round cables? The typical person that buys round cables is the computer enthusiast that wants all the nifty stuff inside his PC. All the stuff that might give hime 2-3% more here or there. Spends countless hours trying different settings and configurations to end up with another 2-3%. Seems to me that if rounded cables were as offensive as the srticle described, bad news travels fast and there would be no market for them considering all the bad press they would get. Survival of the fittest and while I don't use them myself, I wouldn;t think they would give any better or worse performance than a regular old flatty...cool thing about round cables and perhaps the greatest benefit they offer a computer doood is the fact they are TRICK as hell!!!

This guy's article is interesting and correct in theory but I think he may be overstating the severity of the problem. He doesn't have any proof either so we'll never know if he's right.

It seems to me that braiding would go a long way in reducing crosstalk and could even make rounded cables better than their flat counterparts. Braiding works for ethernet cable - could work for ide too.
