I've found a couple of things that I think will work, but I'm not sure. The card is a Type II pc card. I found a router for $250, but that's more than I want to spend. Can somebody please show me a good adapter to use this wireless card on my desktop. Thanks

Something like this should work. The problem with using wireless cards in desktops is that it tends to leave the PC card surrounded by a lot of metal (the rest of your case, desks, etc.). But it should be basically OK.

This is one of the adapters that I've looked at. So you think this particular one will work well. Is there one that will performs better or will this one work just as good?

I think that I want a pci card adapter like the one you showed, but just in case, is there one that I can put in one of my front drive bays?

I don't have that much experience with PCI-PCMCIA adapters, but AFAICT they're pretty simple devices. They're probably all pretty similar, and I've used other things from Koutech and they seem to work OK.

I've never seen one, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Searching for those kinds of oddball accessories is always a pain because it's hard to guess what category a store will put them under.

Ok, thanks. I'll give it a go.

I know some of the ASUS pundit cases had PCMCIA-USB adaptors. Perhaps you could find some of those outside of the case?

Geek it to the max, build a PCMCIA to USB adapter. I'm sure someone in HT can help you with that.

It probably isn't too difficult either. Most of the memory card readers are relatively simple. A PCMCIA-USB reader shouldn't be too much more difficult. The part that would probably get you is the drivers. maybe you can rip them off an existing reader.

Here are some experiences that folks have had with EVDO PCMCIAs used in their machines through adapters:

EVDO

An interesting notion. BTW - the monthly fee for use of a Sprint wireless aircard is pretty steep. Hope this is a business expense. Check out the plan options . . .

Hi, I have been seeing PCMICA adaptors for Desktops at the local computer shows for a couple of years now. You should be able to Google one.

Luck, Jim

I have used the linked pci adapter in multiple pcs for a kpc650 evdo card, and yes it works.
