A dash cam isn't going to protect you from tickets.

You need keen eyes, some real-life experience on where and what to look for, plus some countermeasures:

1) Radar detector
2) Laser jammer
3) Crowd-sourced traffic enforcement data (Waze, Escort Live)

Take it from someone who has had more experience than most with this type of stuff.
I guess you don't know what the actual use for dashcam is for.

I use a G1W that I got for 46 USD. Really good camera for the price. There is no reason to pay more just because it has a brand sticker on it.

If you live in the USA, you want to focus on whether your dashcam is discrete while in eastern european countries a dashcam is better when it is seen from outside. On one hand, you want to prevent theft and shards of glass(in USA) while on the other hand you want to let insurance bandits to not screw with you(in eastern europe).

The G1W is probably the most popular dashcam in recent years, it is very cheap, easy to operate, and AMAZING picture quality for the price. You can do better but you will be spending $250+ for anything with much better quality video.
Wow, a lot of bad complaints on Amazon, too. Not knocking it as I've practically given up on finding a solution but it is difficult to buy into 180 5-star reviews when there are 90 1-star reviews, too. But this product's reviews isn't the only one like this. So, the low-priority search goes on.

Yeah that's because the G1W is also the most widely made copy cat knock off camera, so there are a lot of fakes out there being sold as legit. However the one I linked to should be authentic and from a reputable seller. Most of the fakes were in 2013.
