Imagine all parties involved including a plethora of top gov't officials, legions of lawyers, very influential shipping magnates applying leverage and pressure to the situation, insurance companies, vendors and others right down to those two pilots who were supposed to guide that ship through the canal all pointing fingers and raging over the financial hits everybody's taking over this incident.

A terrorist plot couldn't have done a better job at creating chaos. No lives lost yet major damage to the world's commerce logistics flow.

TFW container ships have possibly grown too large in the name of efficiency.

From what I understand the ship lost power at the absolute worst possible time. High winds took care of the rest. Will be interesting to find out what exactly caused the loss of power and whether or not it was preventable.

Those are going to be perfect for sea level rise. Those shipping containers can hold 1.6 million, standing room only, people,

Yes, it was the title of a movie about a German U Boat, but it seems fitting for a single boat (OK, giant ship) blocking a canal and disrupting worldwide shipping:

Surely, know one could have ever seen this coming. /s Decrepit governing at it's best. Kind of like storing several tons of fertilizer in a warehouse in the middle of commerce.

I saw a news article yesterday that said something like 12% of the world's total shipping goes through the Suez and it will most likely be blocked for weeks, even months.

I'd expect prices of just about everything to start rising across Europe.
