+47 year old who might have a wife and kid/s. Not Darwin award if it is so.
Not funny at all, I wonder how the OP would react if it happened to someone they know.

Update: He had a wife and son.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fisherman-dies-after-tussle-swordfish-hawaii-n367026

The Kona boat captain, identified by NBC affiliate KHNL as 47-year-old Randy Llanes, spotted the young broadbill swordfish swimming in Honokohau harbor on Hawaii Island just before 11 a.m. local time.

Guess he shouldn't have went all billy bad ass then.

He jumped in the water after a 30 lb fish looking for an easy kill, and it kicked his ass.

I used to live over there quite awhile myself.

I guess he should have thought of his kids before hand.

Wow. I'm surprised they even let you post here. That comment about the fish kicking his ass was really out of line for the situation.

The fish was feeling Randy, but he didn't fit the bill.

He should have known the risk, from the article, "This isn't the first time he's heard of bill fish fatally impaling someone, Whitman said. "They are very aggressive animals," he said. "If you mess with them they defend themselves pretty good."

So you jump into his element (the ocean) and now he has the upper hand.

NM, not even bothering, considering some of your P&N posts.

Is that your way of saying it went over your head?

Lol what an idiot, too bad he left behind a wife and kid though

The wife and kid thing I never really considered too much when I made the thread.

Sorry for that one I guess.

I'll take it into consideration in the future, hard to take back now.

I forgive you my child, now go and Procreate before you try to pet an Alligator one night after having too many beers.

A fisherman with kids killed while speargun fishing? Nothing Darwin worthy there.

Here let me try:

Man goes spear fishing; gets spear fished.

Damn I cringed writing AND reading that.

Well let me try again: the guy did not do anything unusually stupid. He was a fisherman plying his trade, which unfortunately has risks. Ironic death is not Darwin Award worthy.

Plus, he's already lived a full life, was married and had a son.
