My gf bought me a very nice dartboard with cabinet for xmas and i'm looking for some input on a good set of darts to buy. i know that tungsten darts are supposed to be the best, any brands that i should look for?

there is a Dart shop by my fathers house in PA that i might check out.

i'd put my skill level at about average, i subbed in a league by my old house a few times.

any thought?

If its a bristle board, you can use either tip. Black widows have been a very popular soft tip dart. I bought the gold widows many years ago and use them weekly in my dart league. They are still going strong.

so then you can use any dart tip with it. Plastic tip sticks just as good.

Click on the soft tip link on that page and you will see Laserdarts brand and all the widows they have. Ideally, you should go and throw a bunch of different types. Each person likes a different shaft. Soft tip are also lighter. 16-18grams I believe.

There are so many different configurations that it would be difficult to choose the best dart for you. I would suggest looking around for a local dart shop. Depending on the shop they will have a board setup and will let you try as many sets as you would like.

My current dart of choice is 24 gram Dennis Priestley darts. Configured with short nylon shafts and standard flights.

If you are looking for a forum that is dedicated to starts head over to http://www.sewa-darts.com. A very active darting community with a lot of help helpful people.

If you can't find a local shop and would like to purchase online I would suggest either http://www.blackbulldarts.com/ or http://www.a-zdarts.com/

My vote is for lawn darts. Very black market, but you get to cover a lot of real estate on the board.
