So far, it's fun.....but Death is so ludicrously powerful he feels like a cheat character that didn't make it into DS1. Compared to the first, it's just....kinda steamroller mode.

Yeah especially when you upgrade a few weapons.

i started playing it yesterday... i think i played 5horus straight hahaha

i like it. I like the world, i like the new objects to do puzzles (it looks odd how death moves the big balls though), the new inventory and item system is pretty cool. Found a lvl 2 possesed scythe at the beginning and i upgraded it with everything i had, now im lvl 9 and i just found something better, its cool how it lets you chose what stat to level up when you feed your weapon.

im going the "mage" way in the skills, i thought that going melee would look too much like how War played in DS1, so im going the other way. I summon some ghouls and some crows but they are damn weak...they are good distraction though... i guess that the ARCANE stat is for mages, but i find myself killing everything melee, not sure how it works

Beat it. Took 36 hours. That is with getting nearly all of the collectables (I missed 4 boatmen coins, 2 Book of the Dead pages, and a small number of the various stones/relics). I missed one side quest because I was an idiot and selected new game plus before going back to finish it and didn't realize it till afterwards, especially since I had it nearly completed (the maze one if you are wondering), and I didn't do much of the Crucible (planned to do that once I hit 30 in the new game).

Great game overall, if you are a fan of the first one or Zelda/action rpgish games you owe it to yourself to play this. The only downside was the ending was weak, while it was understandable it was the way it was, it was still weak.

Bugs/glitches, in the 36 hours I played I had 3 crashes, 2 times the music would stop playing but sound effects would continue, a quick restart of the game fixed this, and the last glitch was the only one that really matter and that was for some reason in a couple of cut scenes with dialog, it would skip complete part of what was being said. It was noticeable because all of sudden the response back from either Death or the person he was talking to would make no sense at all to what they were asked and the screw would have the dialog choice box pop up with no choice option for a few seconds till the character would be done saying what they were (but you didn't get to hear it). This happened 2-3 times that I was at least aware of, though I can't say for certain since I obviously didn't hear what was said, I feel confident that I didn't miss much as I always knew what was going on and why.

I'm not terribly surprised given the chronological positioning of the game. It takes place during the 100 years that War was imprisoned. So, that means what happened in the original Darksiders is still the "freshest" stuff.

I'm still working through the original, and ugh... there are way too many puzzles to get to a boss. I was so glad when I finally got to Tiamat as I was tired of getting those damned swords.

Actually DS2 takes place at the same time that DS1 is taking place, I think DS2 starts when War is being held by the council but right as he is about to be released from them.

Don't worry about the weapons for DLC, weapons are level based in this game, so you won't use any DLC weapons for long. Once you find your first possessed weapon in the 2nd or 3rd dungeon you'll not use any of the DLC items ever again. They do make for ok $ to turn in to other things though at the beginning.

The second one really isn't any better.

Character 1: "Go seek out this guy. He has the answers you seek"
You: "So I was told to seek you out."
Character 2: "Oh Is that so? Well you need to collect 3 of these and bring them to me then I will help you."
You: "Ok I brought them"
Character 2: "Go to this place and talk to that guy"
You: "Ok I'm here where is the item I need?"
Character 3: "Oh that? It was split in 3 pieces so you need to collect them for me!"

3 of this and 3 of that every time and fight a thousand of the same mob that can be killed by mashing attack.

It was fun for the first few hours then I wanted to turn the game off and only kept going because I didn't want to have wasted money on a game I never really played through. The whole fetch crap really wore on me. It wasn't even as good as Zelda fetch quests or other titles. There was no reason for you to go get whatever the characters demanded you to get. They could have gotten it themselves. At least in Zelda which is often used as comparison to this game, you are the only one who can enter or you are destined or only the hero can touch the item and it actually helps you on your quest. This game just has a bunch of characters demand you do their errands.

Maybe those other guys can't steamroll stuff like you can because they're not death, and thus can't retrieve the items? :)

Just wondering, I'm interested in getting the game but don't have any time right now.... so going to wait until thanksgiving for this.

I'm not gonna give away plot or spoiler stuff but I will say that some of the characters making you fetch stuff are supposed to be the most powerful Angels or Demons/Lords of the Undead.

It's just...I don't like doing a dungeon filled with the same puzzles repeating over and over with the same enemies over and over to get an item that the guy you got it for just tosses away and says "ok thanks". It's just too much of a WTF moment for me lol

I don't mind a bit of puzzling and such in the first one; I just think there's too much shoved at you at any one time. Also, having to clear four rooms in the shadow realm gets old after awhile. They aren't hard, but they feel like fillers. The most fun part so far was probably helping out the Maker guy. Of course, it was fun after I died the first time. I tried to do it without the gun, because I didn't see it. The second time, I saw it lying on the ground, and whooooo boy! I had a bit of fun with that thing, and it turned the gauntlet from an actual challenge into a joke.

helping out the maker guy? i cant remember that part....and i cant remember seeing a weapon either haha. The only weapon that i saw was the one that looked like a crossbow.

I beat it yesterday. 20hs In normal difficulty, missing quite some stuff.
Needed to find 3 parts of Oram, 1 or 2 secondary dungeons, 3 book of the dead pages and like 70% of the stones (those little stones were hard as fuck to find... while playing i was not actively looking for them, but when i saw one i shot it and i think i was only able to get like 20 at most)

I did love the game and, as Kaotik said, the end is kinda lame, but i would say that the whole story seemed kinda lame to me.
As cmdrdedd said, in the dead realm the pace of the game goes doooooown cause you are mostly looking for pieces of stuff for the people that need to give you pieces of other stuff.
it was like "i need to get 3 stuffs, i get the 1st one and the guy with the 2nd one asks me to get 3 other stuff, so i go get those other 3 stuff... i get the 1st one but the 2nd part of the other stuff has a guy that asks me to get 3 other stuff. So i need to get 3 things to be able to get the 2nd thing from the previous thing so i can complete the 3 things to deliver to the guy that gives me the 2nd other thing to complete the quest" haha hilarious if you write it like that.

I liked the inventory and item system but the possessed weapons were TOO powerful. I finished the game at lvl 22 and i think and i only changed my scythes 3 times. a lvl 2 possessed scythe that i changed for a lvl 10 possessed scythe and then to a lvl 18 scythe. All the green/blue/purple/yellow scythe that i found were worse.

Loved the art as usual as much as i liked them in Darks1. The landscape, even if it was not VERY DETAILED because of somewhat crappy texture, was wonderful to look at. The colors used were so engaging.

And i liked the puzzles. I dont think they got repetitive, cause each dungeon has like its own set of mechanic. what was repetitive was the feeling of having to finish too many dungeons to progress just a little bit in the main story.

I particularly liked the power to divide yourself in 2. Those were refreshingly original, at least i have never seen that in another game. Specially when you needed to combine it with portals or throwing/catching bombs

edit: oh and i tried the crucible (cant stop thinking about ME3 when i see that word now), i got to wave 69 when i died.... daaaaaaaaamn i should have asked for the loot at lvl 65 haha

I'm talking about the first Darksiders. I still haven't beaten the first one yet. I have a bad tendency of buying sequels regardless of whether I've beaten the prior entries... especially when the Collector's Editions look nifty. That mask is pretty bad ass though! :D

oh then i know what part are you talking about XD

DS2 lacks parts like that one. The competition with Ulthane to see who kills the most angels was pretty funny. On the other hand, luckily DS2 also lacks the flying a griffin part that DS1 had :p

When entering inventory, does Death look extremely pixelated for you guys too? I mean, everything is so sharp and rather nice and then BAM D: I honestly went "whoa" when I saw that... And not in a good way.

Yeah, he looks like shit in the inventory menu, much like most of the shadows you see.

yes... IT SUCKS how Death looks in the inventory/map/whatever screen.

I dont understand why if its the same model than ingame... it sucks cause to see the character there is nice to go on trying different items/weapons to see how he looks, but he looks so awful that it made me not wanting to try things on him. haha

Isn't the menu resolution limited to something horrible like 1280x1024? Regardless of what resolution you're playing at? Lazy console port is lazy.

i woudlnt say that its the resolution...why 1280x1024 is bad?? games in 800x600 look less pixelated. Cause the rest of the images look fine, the weapon icons and all that. Its just the character
