Wanted to create a thread to talk about the final book of Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I will be picking the book up tomorrow after work...... For those who have read it, please indicate spoilers!

I still need to finish the "Wolves of the Calla". What's the full title? It's the last one...I thought there were going to be two more books.

Edit:

Just checked my book...I missed VI?!?!? When did it come out?? WTF...I'm so behind.

:|

Edit 2 :

I just looked in the back of my Wolves of the Calla copy, and I see the last two titles are

"Dark Tower VI : Song of Susannah"

and

"Dark Tower VII : The Dark Tower"

*runs of to check BN and Amazon...*

45% off at my local bookstore tomorrow. I'm looking forward to the book, but not the ending. King's ending have always been a bit disappointing.

Looks like Walmart has the lowest prices on both books. ~$18 for VI, and $21 for VII....

Just ordered it from amazon, along with Star Wars trilogy (never seen any of the movies).

I never read any of this series and I don't know much about it. I imagine it's King's normal horror books?

You mean like Stand By Me, The Green Mile, Hearts of Atlantis, those horror books?

No, it's more of a dark fantasy with a little western, horror and sci-fi mixed into it.

Just got back from Wal-Mart and they had about 20 copies on the shelf already. It was $24.50. I didn't pick it up since I want to get the Song of Susannah first, and I'm only about 1/2 way through Wolves of the Calla...

Leave it to Wal-Fart to break the street date on something...

I just couldn't get into Song of Susannah for some reason....I guess someday I'll have to try again, otherwise I wasted time on the first 5 books.

I've gotten of track before too. I would recommend reading some of King's other books that are Dark Tower related to get you back... IT, The Stand, Eye's of the Dragon, Talisman, Black House, Insomnia and Hearts in Atlantis all have strong ties...

Here's a link that shows you how several of King's other books tie-in to the Dark Tower series:

Dark Tower tie-ins

There are some spoilers listed at this link, but some of the tie-ins to other books are so minor that I wouldn't consider them spoilers.

I've read pretty much everything King has written aside from this series, I'm well aware that he wrote books which are not horror. But that is not "typical" King. I asked a simple question, thanks for your informative answer.

Hmm, if I remember right, this means it's time for me to order the UK version....because the covers over there are cooler.

A couple years ago when I used to play D&D we had a huge campaign based on the Dark Tower series. Good times, I wish the DM were still around.
