Dark Souls 2 for consoles is a month away. What do we know about the PC version?

Super excited for this game, I know From said that it would be released on PC soon after it comes out March 11, 2014 for the consoles.

Do we know the exact date yet? I'm only hoping its a week or two later, and not months

Also will the PC version offer any unique content or visual enhancements?

Hopefully its optimized and bug-less from the get go, this game will be a day one purchase for me most likely. I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the first game. The sense of despair and loneliness in the world was great and the fighting was super fun once I got the hang of it. Some parts were super frustrating though. The section where you are underground descending a maze of platforms to the bottom was frigging annoying. If I wasnt plunging to my death then I was getting lost

They haven't given a release date yet for PC side sadly :(

We won't be getting any unique content. Only reason we did with DS1 was because they didn't know how to port the game so decided to just give us more content to make up for a bad port. Visual enhancements, probably just the normal flair, higher res textures/aa/lighting/etc

I'm really looking forward to this game. I'll redbox it on the PS3 to get a taste before the PC version. Wish it was coming to the PS4 tbh (I need a new video card and that isn't in the budget for awhile :p )

at times like this i wish i still had my xbox 360..I am going to wind up playing with a control on PC anyway. this is really the only game besides titan fall that is being released soon that im actually excited for. I can't wait to install Dark Souls 2 on my PC make a huge pot of coffee and pull an all night gaming session with it. I don't do that nearly as often as when I was younger because frankly not many games hold my interest long enough these days.

But there is nothing like the feeling of being completely absorbed by a game  /rant

Yeah I've clocked in over 400+hours with the first Dark Souls on PC, its really a game that has something for everybody.

I think the DS2 port is going to be fine, they know the hack job port they did was bad so they are going to redeem themselves.

Don't expect a Witcher type variety of settings though, I think its going to have the essentials and will have around the same amount of setting as MGRR(Check Totalbiscuits review on that for what the settings look like.

Anyways I'm super excited, just going to suck waiting until the PC release.

I still need to play the first. I got it during the Holiday Sale, but I have been too lazy to play PC games (yep, I'm THAT lazy). I've been doing 360 Black Ops and Borderlands 2. I imagine I won't get a chance to grab this game until the Summer Sale anyway. Unless The Division gets pushed back to next year, I'd have a very small window of a few months to get both Dark Souls games in, I imagine--from the end of school to the time I decide to get a new video card, possibly for Titanfall, in the summer.

Dark Souls was one of my favorite games ever. "If it looks like a trap, it probably is."

Last time it took a petition to get the company to port it, when they did they produce a terrible port that doesn't even run at the PCs default FPS. The fact its not announced for PC is no surprise really, they just don't care about PC.

I can't wait for DS2. I just hope they are more harsh on cheaters. I hate when I invade at level 10 and the guy I am up against has more than 1500hp... Seriously? I just spend hours farming the materials to make a +5 Lightning Bandit's Knife so you can hack your stats and live through a riposte...

PCs have a default FPS? That is news to me. And it has been announced for PC, just not given a release date. The port wasn't great, but they did it merely as fan service and even admitting having zero development experience for PC.

Loved the world they created in the first one.

Can't wait for the second.

Most frustrating part of DS was that I really had to get used to not rushing in and hacking away. Every encounter could kill you, but that is what made the game and the world absorbing. What a game, seriously, wow.

PC version was announced along with the console version this time though and they have been showing off the PC version for everything and have said they have made sure to do a proper port.

Yeah, I am definitely going with the console version of this game. I didn't do much PVP on the PC version (pretty much only do speed runs now), but after doing it some over the past few days, wow cheater central.

It is rather annoying invading and getting invaded by people level 15 with more than 1400 HP... (I only know this because my riposte does around that 1400, +5 Lightning Bandit's Knife and crit ring ftw!)

According to this leak the PC release is supposedly April 25th. There also seems to be a collectors edition for the PC as well.

Link

Namco has refused to confirm in responding to a question on Twitter, its all speculation so take it with a grain of salt.

Cant wait to get my hands on the PC version considering they are going to make it good now.

From what I've heard, the collectors edition for PC was cancelled in North America.

Day one DLC? No buy for me.

Its not Day 1 DLC, its just gives you a code to have access to some starting weapons which otherwise you would get a few hours into the game. You still need the stats to wield them.

Obviously any souls fan wont use the code and the subsequent free weapons. I think its just a part of Namco's mass marketing to have some sort of goodie for newbies, I'm fine with that since everything I have heard points to a much harder game than the original DKS, they are probably junk tier weapons only good for the beginning few hours. Its just a case of the publisher looking to make a few extra sales, its nothing too egregious

I just accepted it as part of the danger of the dark souls world. Nobody bitched when seath the scaleless killed you in his invincible form the first time you meet him. Why does everything have to be fair?

What I'd like to see done is allow for mechanisms to survive invading ghosts other than killing them. Maybe have some special accessories, spells, items, or even just a feature where if you can run to a bonfire, you can kick him out.

Edit: seems like they added a feature where an invader has only a given amount of time to get the job done, so just avoid the hacker and you'll win.
