From what I have read it has nothing to do with the tv show except they are both about aliens.

The trailer promises suckage.
 
I will watch just about any big production sci-fi movie. Though this trailer seems to show all the good parts already. Oh and David Duchovny looks like he gained a few pounds. 😀
