Where in Best Buy is Dark City? I was there last night and it's not on their normal racks, nor is it in any of their bargain racks. I asked someone, and of course their response to "do you have X DVD" is to look at the shelf, see it's not there, and say "umm, nope".

At my BestBuy (St. Louis) I found multiple copies in the discount section, i think it was where they had the 2/$15 dvds.

I didn't want to be left out . . .

DC . . . great movie.

JC . . . damn she's hot.

Runtime . . . definitely short.

Ending . . . can you say . . . ran out of money and/or time?

Hmm...it's not as old as I remember. My memory (somewhat faulty these days) seemed to think it was from about 1994. I must be losing it.

I found it over at the "$7.99 and under DVD" section.

Dark City is a great movie, and I took this deal as soon as you guys posted it. But better than the Matrix? Puh-lease. I think the Matrix was not the end-all\be-all that many think it is, but the Matrix was damn good. Dark City is cheesy, and the effects are terrible. The story is great, but the direction\screenwriting is awful. Dark City = Great movie in spite of itself.

The movie release was delayed over a year. I think they had some significant problems making this movie. I remember vividly how ticked I was every time I'd go to a movie and see the preview for this and then have the release pushed back.

By the by if you haven't seen the trailer definitely download it from somewhere.

could say " Matrix = Bad movie in spite of special effects."
ripped off nearly every concept in modern sci-fi
name anything, ANYTHING that was trendsetting in as far as _concept + plot_
give me a week and i bet i can find something with an earlier copyright
and the plot was pain (yes pain) stupid regardless
keanu reeves just did his whoa dude that he does in every movie
larry just say some mouthings with a cool voice

Ending was a little rushed, but Dark City does kick The Matrix's ass.

i woulddn't say that, matrix and dark city each stand up on their own. both are good. you can't deny matrix had a far greater effect on popular culture, dare i say revolutionary for film and scifi:)

Yeah, looks like the deal might be over, it's selling for $14.99, found it in the special deals section of the dvds. One of the guys helping me said $5.99 too but when I took it up it rang up way too high. Took it back to the first guy and he looked it up and confirmed that it was $14.99. Must have gone up today

There isn't a single sci-fi movie produced in the last 20 years that hasn't "ripped off nearly every concept in modern sci-fi" - in fact the idea that even Dark City was so original is amusing.

Why is it so hard for people to let others have different opinions about something? Both movies were quite interesting. So you hated the Matrix. It doesn't mean anything considering that I loved it. The plot of Dark City was painful and simplistic. The Matrix had a painful and simplistic plot. So what? Just let it go. I liked the Matrix as much as Dark City. Dark City had cheesy effects and some of the direction\dialog is *painfully* bad. The Matrix has Keanu in it. Both borrowed heavily from other movies or books.

Local BB in Timonium, MD had 3 or 4 copies last nite, but they were all $14.99.
Checked in 2 for $15 section but found none. Sounds like an excellent movie. May have to rent or pick up online for less.

I did my master's thesis on Ligeti's Cello Concerto (1st movement), which I discovered was in this piece (the wife and I rented it while I was working on the thesis). Just a bit of trivia for you.
