As Neil Armstrong, the first man on the Moon died today. As all I can say is RIP.

In terms of any commentary, I have redoubled respect for Neil Armstrong who always maintained the moon landing was nothing but a team effort. Maybe someone had to be the first man to step on the moon, but my respect for Neil Armstrong is redoubled as he never took any credit for being first.

A true American selfless role model that should inspire us all.

As I somewhat resent your implication cybrsage as I instead refer to andand tech posting rules.

As the first poster to respond on a given topic, because they posted first, gets anand tech prioity and other later posters on the same subject, are regarded, by anand tech as extranious duplicates.

A wise policy IMHO, because without such a policy we might have 20 or 30 concurrent ongoing threads on the exact same subject.

As I note, because I am a slow typist, I have lost count of the number of topics I have tried to be the first OP, to post on a given subject, and instead find someone else typed faster and posted first. As I have always respected anand tech posting rules, because if someone else posts first on a given subject, the forum adminitrators have an obligation to discard any second placers.

Now on the other hand Cybrsage, if you have any objection to what I said about Neil Armstrong, please state it now.

Most people do not know that the quote attributed to him is not correct. One of the words was not transmitted very well and therefor was missed in the transcript. I have added the missing word in bold...it makes more sense with it in there:

"This is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

His income when he went to the moon was in the $30k range, which made him very well paid. I do not know his income after returning, though he certainly was not poor. I suspect upper middle class.

Newtjin, please define your question. Are you asking about Neil Armstrong's income which might barely qualify him in the top 20% of American wage earners at any point in his life.

Or are you asking about Neil Armstrong's content of character, which IMHO, puts him easily in the top of the top top 1/16 perecentile of all Americans.
