Forgot to download the demo last night but hopefully I'll remember to get it tonight. My poor PS3 is so neglected. 🙁

well if you're going to clone a game you may as clone one of the best action games ever. I will have to give this a try

It was good. Fighting Death was fun. Riding the beast was fun. And collecting and using souls to upgrade is good. I didn't like that they don't let you control the camera at all. Even something like bayonetta where you can slowly move it around would have been enough for me but I hate it when you have no control it makes me feel less in control of the character.

After playing the demo, I have to say that Dante's Inferno has some good potential.

The fighting is fluid and at times actually feels more responsive than GoW. A lot of the moves and comboes seem more interesting than GoW, and sort of like some DMC moves.

However, there are some minor problems. The environments range from bland to beautiful. I don't like how they did the quick time button presses compared to the GoW method. The skill tree looks a little cluttered.

Overall, I'm excited.

Most important thing about this game (and all games of this style) is how good the combat feels and in this case, it's fantastic.

It's far too early to say the game is bland or boring. Tons of enemies and a satisfying way to kill them makes for good times.

As I said, my complaints were minor.

Also, the demo only really showcased two enemies, the small, almost helpless sword minions and the flying enemies, which is a lot less variety than the GoW demo.

grabbed the demo this morning

playing through the GOW collection right now, this just feels like a super generic god of war ripoff. it even has the same combos and stuff where you can launch yourself up into the air.

the tapping O to get health is very unnecessary too.

i may rent it when it comes out but that is about it.

Just got around to playing it I liked it quite a bit. Death really beat the crap out of me until I realized this is a game where you HAVE to block and avoid a lot

for everyone screaming GOW clone, GOW itself was not the first game to be what it is, i'm 100% positive GOW is a clone of something else, i just cant put my finger on the game

Uhh.. Devil May Cry, maybe?

Thats why everytime someone in this thread has said "GOW Clone" I keep cracking up, because they actually mean "DMC Clone".

As there is a little talk about 2 demos here:

Bayonetta - I didn't like at all, didn't even get to the end of the demo & deleted it.

Dante - Pretty fun & as other's have said it pulls from God of War, but I liked those as well.

yea thats 1 but i'm thinking even earlier pre PS2, like in the N64/PS1 days

its not a new concept, its a really fun concept and i generally love games like this.

I'm trying pretty hard to think back, but I genuinely don't recall any game that was as revolutionary as Devil May Cry from a combat perspective. Pretty sure it was the first of it's kind and all games that followed such as God of War, Ninja Gaiden, and Shinobi are all Devil May Cry clones.

So it just cracks me up to hear someone say God of War clone like they have a clue what they are talking about, haha.

Dunno. I'll do some digging, you might be right.

interesting trivia re: DMC

anyhoo i finally downloaded and checked this out on the weekend. i'll be buying the full game when it comes out, if it hasn't already. i just love the evil / good theme, and the graphics and environment resulting from the divine comedy angle. awesome.

edit: oh and boobies 😀

The demo was a disappointment for me. Graphics weren't so good and I just didn't feel the game. Gonna pass. X360 version.

Just wanna know from those who have played both of these (or the demo), is Dante's or Darksiders a better game, and why?

I finally got to play it on my XBOX last night and it's fairly interesting. I like the talent tree sort of aspect to it as a method to unlock abilities/combos or to make them more powerful. I do think that it's odd how punishing someone is a simple 2 button press but absolving them requires 2 buttons and a QTE....

Speaking of QTE... I knew I wasn't going to like one aspect of this game. I've played God of War and I absolutely hate them stupid button pressing events! The reason why I hate them is that I have absolutely no coordination of what button is where on my controller... that's not how my mind works. I simply mentally map the moves onto a specific button so I know if I hit "that left button" I'm going to kick something or "that right button" will punch something.

So, when I see a thing to press 'B', I have no idea which button is 'B' :\.

yea when i first played the demo i did a 😵 followed by a 😀

I think it's kind of nice in a way. I mean, it's not like anyone that doesn't giggle at farts is going to truly care about seeing some video game boobs. But by nice, I mean you get a more "mature experience" I guess you could call it. They aren't trying to cover/censor anything for lower ratings or to make it seem more tame.

I've played both. Darksiders is more puzzle/platformer with some action thrown in. I'm not so much a fan of the combat (you never, ever have to block), but the art style is wicked cool and the story is not too bad.

Dante's inferno pulls much more from GOW's action model. Lots of visceral combat, good visuals, not too much puzzle solving (at least not in the demo).

Think of it this way. Darksiders is more like Prince of Persia with a holy vs. unholy theme. Dante's Inferno is more like GOW with a gothic christian religious theme.

Funny you mentioned it - I am in the same way. I couldn't even finish the GOW2 final fight with the Zeus, because it required millisecond button mashing (PS2). After watching the same cut scene 30 times, I finally moved on with my life. 🙂

As a huge GOW fan I was psyched for this game. I tried the demo and it was a huge let down. The combat just wasn't as fluid as I'd like and the camera angles were annoying. It seems like they spent too much time on the CGI cut scenes..

Played the demo. Seems like a cool concept. Cutscenes were some of the best I've ever seen. Very dark, very creepy, very "mature". Actual gameplay left me a bit underwhelmed and the lack of camera control is a major turn off. And the simon says quick events are one of the worse I've seen. I was playing on a PS3 hooked up to a 46" 1080p LCD and the damn quick buttons were so small and dark I could barely see them. The first couple times they popped up I didn't even know they were there.

I'd maybe rent just to progress the story/cutscenes and gut my way through the combat.
