Dangit... just got hacked...

Some asswipe decided to hack my laptop... left his sig by leaving a user group and name on my AIM buddy list... is there any way I can track this SOB down?

i got enough stuff on my laptop.....uh ya...sorry but when you get into security and it's sunday night you get bored ok! all he got into was your aim name and pw no big deal unless you have a trojan on your system.

lol I have nothing on my laptop... it's purely a tool for class, but it's been my lifeline for the last week. Just makes me irritable.

You can also get a free firewall software from www.zonelabs.com, although I agree that it might have just been a URL that you clicked that added the group. It's easy to do.

You might seriously be interested in the Free (GPL) version - SmoothWall.org. Its just semi cut-down. Same security, fewer features. You need a spare PC to run it (it turns it into a firewall, and you cant use it for anything else, so a spare Pentium or 486 is perfect.)

Are you SURE you were hacked? A lot of scripts will add a name in AIM. It's rather simple to do actually. If you add a name long enough, then it will crash your AIM.

Plus, most true hackers don't want you to know that they were in. They'll grab stuff, and get what they want. Then they blackmail you later.
