Danger Den heater Core

i will be looking after xmas to build a water setup on my current rig, along with an X2 3800+, and i was looking at the Danger Den Heater Core .. now the question, is how the hell do you fit this, it has no mounting brackets for mounting on the case 😕 ??

I know it has the acrylic shroud for the fan to be mounted but i am not aware that it also allows you to mount it to the case .. please can you provide some info on this, websites, pics etc.

i am looking at the heater core as i might be looking to get a 226W T.E.C setup, and want to have a heater core as they are more efficient at heat transfer.

any advise is more than welcome,

🙂

I'm not sure what DD had in mind but I've tried it a couple different ways. The first time I just made two L-shaped brackets that hooked on the side of the heatercore and held it up against the opening in the case. With my current setup I used the fan shroud to hold the heatercore against the case. It's hard to explain, but where the shroud contacts the heatercore I lengthened it's edge so it hangs over the sides of the core. I then used long 3.5" screws that run through the shroud overhang, along the side of the core, and then bolt to the case to keep everything secure. I'm sure there are better ways of doing it but its worked very well for me so far.

It depends a lot on where you want to stick the radiator. I have mine sitting vertically right in the front of the case under the 5 1/4" bays. You could use the same concept above if you mounted it to the back of the case too.

FYI- You probably already know this but if your going to use a T.E.C. setup go with the BIP/BIX II or III as you'll need a lot more dissipative area than with standard H2O cooling.

Thanks for the reply .. do you think if using a 226W T.E.C setup, that the black ice extreme/pro would be a better solution, and would it perform better .. as if it would, it would be alot easier for me to fit?

Thanks,

Rich
