Check out Costco. I bought a pair of Raybans there that usually run $120 everywhere else for only $70.

 Costco has brand names at really good prices. Check them out before you decide to buy,
:| No Costco's around here. Just Sam's Club.

There is a Costco in Kansas City. Maybe I should go visit my friends in KC. :)

Need I say more?
Prescription glasses for very little, complete with frames. Even with memory titanium frames (the metal you can twist like mad and still springs back to the proper shape). I think one of those sites had polarized lenses as an option when I was getting ready to place an order before.

have to play the ship back and forth game because I'm damn picky w/ my frames :p and has anyone here actually used them? what kind of quality the lenses have, etc... for some reason, it just doesn't sit well w/ me buying $20 Rx glasses off the net.

You didn't read that thread?
Several people posted their experiences.

Anyway, I used to think something magical happened after they figured out my prescription. I thought someone in a back room ground a hunk of glass, or whatever material, down into a lens of my prescription. One day, I found out the truth: they've got boxes upon boxes of lenses - all they do is mark where your pupils are supposed to be on the lenses when they're on the frames, and cut the lenses to fit the frames.

Guess where the lenses are made.
Ditto frames. Of 2 frames made out of identical material, with the same types of hinges, do you think one could possible cost $100 more to manufacture (then put the name "Jordache" on) than the other one?
Do the frames you buy say "made in USA"? Or do they say "made in Taiwan"?

Most are made over-seas, and quite inexpensively.

Don't go too cheap on sunglasses, though. Obviously you can get away with a no-name; but you want to be sure that the glass is good. Cheap dark glass = dilated pupils + unfiltered UV = wacky fun with retinal burns. This particular concern only filters out the real bottom of the barrel, though, as decent UV protection can be had fairly cheaply.

I glanced through, didn't find much on long term durability. I've had lenses from hour eyes, lenscrafters, and sterling optical... lenscrafters are the only ones that didn't scratch easily... and I've always stuck w/ them (and they usually only have the frames I like).

Anyway, i spose it's worth a shot, backup pair of glasses can't hurt. Just need to figure out the numbers for my pupils

premiumeyewear.com ----- great foakleys (i have a pair of them and love em)
plastic foakley's are ok... metals.. suck... and when you have to have a Rx... it ain't gunna hold compared to the real thing.

ha, i went to sterling optical since it's right next to the place I get my haircut... the guy was suspicious and very hesitant about measuring the pupils for me. But I get my eye exams done there and had my rx oakleys done... he finally gave in.

I finally got around to looking for new glasses and the only pair I found that I really liked was a pair of Raybans that cost $120! Is it just me or is that ridiculous for some metal and some glass?

Any good places to get sunglasses cheap?

seconded. i wonder if you have the same pair as i do because those prices sound very similar.

It's all about the aviators :D

You overpaid that's for sure :p

3 bucks at the dollar store ?

hahaha :p

I thought it was an outrage but I decided to splurge.

LOL reminds me of the comcast ad where the supervisor is trying to train these new guys

Supervisor: "If everything is a dollar then how much is it?"
jpark932: "3 dollars?"
