IMDB on Rosemary's Baby
I've watched close to zero "horror" films in my life - I see them as mindless and gore-fested wastes of space that do nothing to enrich the human spirit. But when I heard from aquaintances that Rosemary's Baby WASN'T mindless and gore-fested and instead a VERY good movie -- albeit creepy -- I decided to watch it over the weekend.
Bad idea.
Now I understand why it's called a HORROR film. What happens in this movie is just horrible. This isn't scary, ghost-story stuff like The Sixth Sense or the Ring that takes a slight suspension of disbelief to get into. This movie demonstrates pure, unspoiled evil at its worst and that seems very real. The final scene hasn't left me after even a few days, which is rare for any movie. It's so well done, but man, I've never had anything crawl under my skin like this before. What an awful, excellent movie.
And my wife is six months pregnant, too. <shudders> I guess I'll pass up on watching The Exorcist or The Omen.
