ordered one of these from the last thread, but didnt get a chance to say thanks Joker. dang good find. got lost looking for the other thread, but it had some good info! had the grandparents watch my son and my wife and i put it together sun morn. of course, i just had to try it out and make sure it worked. all i gotta say is WOW. i'm impressed. it *is* my first r/c, but still. i smacked it into the wall the first time i gunned it inside. sheepishly, i took it outside and it handled extremely well. dunno if my 4 y/o boy is gonna be able to control it but it will be fun to watch. i just dunno how i'm gonna avoid playing with it until xmas. it keeps calling me from the top of the bedroom closet in the middle of the night. "vrooom, vrooom".

Anyone own one of these? I'm just wondering how good/fast they are... and how good the quality is...

Does it seem like a $300 RC car?

I think the car is worth about 299 12 years ago, which is when they came out.
The Dandy Dash has very good quality, but by the look of the predator it looks like
a radio shack rc. If anyone can prove me wrong that will be great, so I can buy one.

I have the dandy dash, it is very good for 49.99, now that is 59.99 I think it is still worth it. I was saying the predator looks like a radio shack rc. + there are no more predator in kbtoys, there is a new one call for ALIENATOR 79.99

Regardless of the Radio Shack-ness of the Predator, it still seems like a good deal. With my experience of R/C buggies, the Radio Shack cars (good ones) are amazingly tough. Don't have to worry so much about destroying your "kit" car when all you want to do is run it around the neighborhood. However, if pro/am racing is your deal, then the Dandy Dash definitely is the way to go!!! (IMHO)

Question about batteries:

Is the Radio Shack 3000mAh NiMH 7.2V any good? I noticed it was selling for 34.99 in their Sunday ad.

Is the Radio Shack Fast AC charger (#23-416) any good as well? It's on sale this week also for 34.99

I agree about the comparison between the Dandy Dash and the Predator. From reading previous posts about the Dandy Dash it seems it's not as crash worthy as something that comes presassembled like the Nikko Thor or Predator. I have smashed my Thor around pretty good with no damage. The Dandy Dash is probably better for racing where the Predator and Thor may be better for doing jumps and crashing into bushes, etc... I'll know more after Christmas since then I can compare the Thor, Predator, and Dandy Dash head to head.

As far as batteries and chargers go I would reccommend the following charger to maximize the enjoyment of your car. It will charge a 1500mah battery in about 15 minutes. Your local hobby shop should have it for about $60:

MRC Super Brain 959 Charger

This is a decent battery:
Tower Hobbies 1500mah

This is a better battery:
DuraTrax Sanyo 1500 6 Cell Flat Standard for $15.99

Or you can try the supposedly cheaper quality 7.2v 6 cell 2000mah Nicd for $24.99 or 3000mah Nimh for $34.99 at Radio Shack.

I got in on the Predator deal, right before they lowered the Dandy Dash price again... The Dandy Dash looks like a very good deal, but my wife is going to kill me if another RC car shows up at the house.

I also have the Thor, but don't use it much because the battery dies so fast. So, I just bought a couple of 1700mah batteries and the 959 Super Brain from this place.. I never bought from them before, but they had good prices and they shipped my order the same day (today). So, now I can race the Thor and the Predator and recharge the batteries while running them. The nice thing about this charger is that it also charges 9.6v batteries. I have a couple of cheap RC cars that use the 9.6's, so they might get some more use as well.

Thanks for the review on the charger. I'm new to all of this, and this review is very helpful.

that car is nowhere near being worth 299. Its not even a real RC car, its just a toy.
59,99 is a good price for a toy rc car, but if youre looking for something more real life, i suggest towerhobbies.com

this is not a 299.99 car, because it was 299.99 when it came out which was 1989. This is not a real RC, do you have one? I got one and it look like a real RC as any other. Of course this is not as good as the HPI RS4 or Kyosho, but for 59.99 it is still very good. I have a HPI Nitro, a on road car, a plane, a boat, ... This is a very good quality car. It makes a very good off road car that I can jump ramp with.

Anyhow the dandy dash is pulled off the list in kbtoys. Jokersmoker is really cleaning up the inventory for kbtoys, some times I wonder if he works there.
