As some of you know I started shuffle dancing during the weekend and several times my blood sugar levels are below 90, 61 Sat and 83 today. Nothing dangerous but something I need to keep an eye on. Funny thing is I'm not even moving that quickly at all and only a few minutes at a time. Maybe I should eat something after I'm done?

So others who are diabetics and dance, how do you deal with this?

In all seriousness, you should talk to your doctor before starting any new physical activity, including dancing.

I just seen the doctor last week and a few months before that he signed a wavier for a In-shape program that the Mental health organization that provides treatment for my MDD runs. I guess I may need to see that doctor again?

Yeah you are right, but to play it safe I'll have a snack on hand to eat afterwards.

I can understand if a treadmill dropped it that much, but dancing? Maybe your meds are too strong? Yeah I'd see your doctor too.
I could ask my doctor about that. Maybe I was dancing longer then I thought I was?

When you use your muscles will get their primary energy from glycogen stored in the muscle. As that is used up insulin will open pathways in the muscle to allow more glycogen to enter it. That pulls sugar out of your blood which can result in low blood sugar if you don't replace what your muscles are taking up with food.
This is more of a problem for those with Diabetes than it is for those without because those with diabetes have issues with this metabolic system.
