Dan Rather to step down

He should have been fired...

It's odd that the producer that cut into CSI NY when Arafat died got canned and noone associated with the forged documents story did...

Agreed.

This came several years late. Anyone remember when Dan and Connie Chung co-hosted the CBS Evening News? What a disaster that was.

makes sense... nobody watches the evening news anyways. He'll continue to suck on 60 minutes where he can mislead a much larger audience.

D.C. reporter Jamie Dupree was just saying that he also watches Rather. You never know what is going to happen. Then he threw out a quote that I cannot remember who to accredit it to... that Rather was the one person on the news most-likely to pull a weapon during a live broadcast. 😀

I agree. he should have been fired. But not a suprise he is quiting. He lost a lot of people's respect. I would have a hard time beleive anything he say's anymore.

Yup, let's all bash him for that one incident and force him to retire.

Excuse me. Dan Rather has been the father of slanted reporting for a long time now. It's just unfortunate that he was caught this most recent time.

He is a news reporter entrusted with the job of reporting the facts. In his effort to scoop the competition he ran with an inflammatory story without checking the facts. People have a choice of which source to get their news from. His actions potentially affected a presidential election and caused millions of viewers to stop watching his network because they no longer see it as trustworthy. He could have cost our president the election and did cost his employer millions of dollars of revenue. Why shouldn't he be fired?
