Dampening/Quieting a Computer Project

I was wondering if there were any sites or anyone that had an overclocked PC and then tried to make their PC as quiet as possible...
Is there such a project or something I could read about and how they did it and etc?
I plan to O/C my computer and all but I don't want my PC to sound like tons of delta all at once. So I was wondering what i could do to quiet it *A LOT
Thanks!

You could get the Digital Doc 5. It controls up to 8 fans and has 8 temp sensors. You can set it to turn on additional fans if the case/CPU temp gets too hot.

Just a thought.

Try cases and cooling, there are lots of guys there who have built near silent computers that they have overclocked.

There are numerous sites to be found on Google which deal with PC quieting... Look for "quiet PC" or something :)

They will recommend using quiet Panaflo fans, sticking noise-dampening material to the case walls, buying quieter hard drives and using fanless heatsinks for the CPU and the videocard.

Simply moving a PC to another room will do the best job, though :)

Search forums for the word "quiet", as well.. I had lots of questions answered when I was doing my own research.

Good luck.

main thing, buy a whopping great copper heatsink, SLK800 or something. Basically, the more efficient the heatsink is, the slower all the other fans can be. A quality case will help too, one that enhances rather than restricts airflow... of course quality fans that are efficient with airflow and dont vibrate or cause turbulence - panaflo seems to be reccomended. Bigger fans = more airflow at less noise, as they can be ran at slower rpm. Case needs to support the larger fans though of course...

watercooling is of course another option altogether ;)

Why OC for silence? Unless it's an easy OC, like a P4 1.6@2.13, the issue is that OCing is a cost cutting manuver unless you are overclocking a high end chip (in which case you need serious cooling), and silence costs money.

Use Panaflo L1A fans.
Buy a quiet (but adequate) power supply.
Look into Akasa Pax-mate noise reduction mats.

Cause I leave my PC on 24/7... I might as well opt for watercooling then...
