We haven't had problems yet and to be honest I love them compared to Adelphia (Not saying much). Adelphia was quite possibly the worst internet service I ever had the displeasure of using. Having said that, we haven't had problems yet at home and the download/upload speeds all appear very very good.

(Nothing beats Campus Ethernet speed-wise though. We have an upload limit, but I have broken a constant 2MB/s before on a download. Absolutely incredible!)

You have three choices and you are complaining you are "stuck"?

How so? How in the world are you stuck?

Do you realize just how much bandwidth costs? Do you not realize the astounding leaps and bounds that have occured over just 60 months?

OP got what he paid for. I can pick up a phone and call providers and be immediately connected to level4 engineers if need be, but I pay for it. Support and ongoing expense of ANY network is the lions share of the cost of ownership.

You pay for that kind of support for your home usage? I mean, sure I can call and get the support I need for the connections to the various offices but for home? No way.

so I called them again and had to go to Tier 3 tech support for them to explain to me why their plan reads: Performace (6 Mb/s Downstream, 384 or 768 Kbps Upstream).. nobody except Tier 3 tech support knew why it said 384 or 768.. WTF man. Anyway, i finally got my explanation albeit it took another 46 minutes, plus the 38 from yesterday. And they don't even offer the 16 meg service in my area. Why the hell did they send me a flyer via snail mail to sign up for it then.

i had to threaten to cancel service to get to talk to a tier 2 CSR.
only to have them finally admit that they were working on the node near my apt. which was the cause of my slower than dialup speeds for 2 weeks & it was not my computer, NIC, modem or router.

So, in other words, not that much.

what the market will bear...

I'd imagine that there is an average price for bulk bandwidth out there somewhere...

Alternator sized?
