and i dunno why you wasted your money on the bosch platinums (actually, i must confess i've been there myself, but with the +4's), i think it came stock with NGK and it would probably work best with those.

I believe that the Bosch platinum+2 are oem spec'd for some toyotas.


Kelvrick, have you noticed a significant change in the gas milage of the car?
 
You can go to Santa Ana, there are places that will "pass" your car for a slightly higher fee than the regular smog check. You better know somebody though.

Gas mileage has been around 24-25 but is recently 22-23. I guess thats pretty bad since I drive 65-75mph with 80% 65 on my way to work and generally don't rev above 3500 when I accelerate.

cr4zymofo: Yea, I could do that. I don't know anyone around here, but I do know people in Santa Ana (I used to live 15 minutes away from the area). I just don't know if I wanna drive 7 hours each way from where I amif there was some way for me to really fix the problem.

EDIT: Mine came with OEM NGK's though. They cost about the same as the Bosch's and the Bosch's looked shiny, so I went for it. 🙂
 
I forgot to mention, carefully inspect the vacuum hose for leaks that leads to the EGR valve.
 
When we used to have emission testing Michigan they allowed you to get plates as long as you spent $150 trying to pass the test.

Is there a similar policy with the California testing?

 
Just got 2 of my vehicles inspected, diesels are exempt from emission testing in Texas, cost a whopping $12 each for the stickers, VS ~$50 for a gas vehicle.

BTW, I'd do what Roger said, but also change the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, change oil & O2 sensor.

EGR valves are pretty cheap, I'd just install a new one.
