AADSOUHG#H(%@#NOSFEJO I'm SO freaking mad..... first to calm myself down let me give you system specs
Tbird 1.0 ghz
Abit KT7
512 megs crucial RAM
2 x 40 Meg Maxtor Hard drives (one as master and one as slave on IDE1 using 80 pin cable)
Lite on 16x Cdrw and Pioneer 16x dvd (both on IDE2 on 80 pin cable pioneer is master)
KyroII
sound blaster live!
Enermax 300Watt PS
.. nothing else really matters....
Windows XP pro
latest BIOS for KT7
The problem that I'm having I USED to have a long long time ago... It seems that when I'm installing a game (happened on Commandos II, Need for speed, UT, and Diablo II) my computer just randomly freezes during the install. IT seems to happen at a different point every time. When the computer freezes, it's a hard freeze, I don't get BSOD, but it's 100% frozen (can't move mouse). If I hit reset on my computer with the computer POSTS it will not detect any IDE devices, I have to turn it all the way off, then turn it back on for it to come back up.
I used to have this problem about 3 months ago, then I updated my BIOS and it worked fine... I didn't have any problems for a long time. Just recently however, I was downloaded a vid, I coppied and pasted it, then as soon as I pasted it I opened it and my computer froze again. I figured it was a freak accident so I didn't worry about it... Today however I was trying to install Need For Speed High stakes, and it's freezing again. The first time I tried installing I had a bunch of stuff running in the background and it froze... Next time was right after a reboot with nothing running in the background and it still froze... I tried to install about 4 more times and it froze every time.
I checked all the cables in my case, it's also not a heat issue. I defraged, checked for errors, changed which CD rom I was installing from (I was using the DVD (the master) and I tried the Lite on, but it froze also). I also tried disconnecting the slave hard drive, and the slave CD rom and tried installing then, still froze..... I've also got all the latest windows updates for XP... ANY CLUE?
