Just paid $2000 for an Exchange 2003 Standard license along with 20 user CALs for work and found out Microsoft isn't going to be sending out media for another month... :(

This sucks. I pay good money for a software package and can't even install it for another month.

Actually, at this point, it doesn't matter where I get the media as I own the license. :D

20 Users and you are using exchange? Seems a bit overkill... must be a email/cal client for that small of a workgroup that's cheaper?

Yeah, it's actually not physically possible for him to pirate it now that he has a license.

Try edonkey and good ol' usenet. If you don't have a good usenet feed, let me know.

Gotta agree with him there.

I'm the Network Manager at a Corporate Consulting firm with which FULLY uses the collaboration features of Exchange. Sharing calendars, contacts, meetings, file stores, booking equipments etc. just can't be done without a good collaboration software.

Hell, before I was hired we were using the Enterprise version of Exchange which runs $4000 for one license PLUS $1400 in CALs! :Q

Anyway, it's well worth it for our company as we make the initial investment back 10 times (if not more) over from the convenience and ease of use for users.

btw: I just found out you can install the trial version and just use your license info to make it a fully registered version. :D

Of course, it'll be nice to have the actual media, but now I don't gotta worry about putting off the upgrade for another month.

Our company used to use Lotus Notes only and then got bought out by a bigger company so now everyone uses Note and Outlook, my god we still have 133 Mhz computers running both of those at the same time along with McAfee.... sometimes I hate being in IT....

It does the same crap as all previous versions. As long as you can send and receive email, it works. MS gets corp america with there bullsh*t upgrades and their stupid licenses. I'm so glad I left the IT field.

What's the problem? He bought the license already, so he's legally allowed to use it. Microsoft's user agreement says that he only bought the license to use the software, not the media. Using their own legalese... wherever he gets the actual software doesn't matter, as long as he bought the license to use it.

I guess my joke was misconstrued

my question would be "whats the problem; its a joke?"
i mean, we're in a primarily tech forum...people here dont know about these programs...as though he hasnt considered that an option already?
there were no instructions or links on where to get it illegally.

Don't mind the mods, they just need to remind themselves that they are in charge from time to time.
