Back home, I never had A/C and my room was always around 90 in the summer. I got used to it. The last two years, in the dorms and then in my first apartment, I had an A/C...and it has spoiled me. Now my room at my new apartment is about 90, living room is about 85...BAH

Yes A/C is the best, one day i wish i have a house with Central A/C and no more putting A/C's out the windows.

Go buy a window shaker. If that isn't an option buy a fan or two.

I know you can't now but when you can - use ceramic tiles/floors and your house will be ridiculously cooler. I don't have to turn on the CAC for most of the summer. Of course I pay for it during the winter months... :(

Yea we had central air in my old apartment. WOW that was amazing.

Can't get a window unit unless the landlord puts different bars on the windows. Damn this city and its necessity of bars! I went to Target to get fans last night, I was too late though...all the big ones were sold out, I had to get a dinky 9" one...but its working to some degree. I think I posted a drunken thread about it last night.

You and me both! I'm in South Philly so bars are necessary. I need an AC in our living room, but the stupid bars are in the way. Good thing for ceramic tile floors in our living room, thus, the room is rather cool but it's still @ 85 degrees.

I was just at Menard's the other day buying a support for my window A/C, and I saw a "portable" unit there that you could put inside, and had an intake and exhaust hose. You could probably rig one of those up to work. I think it was $300-400 though.

Yea we talked about the portable units, they are so expensive though. I'm just a poor college student!

the apartment on the other side of the building has bars on the windows that extend outwards at the bottom so an AC fits. I'm assuming they have the same landlord we do...I need to talk to her about gettin some of them.

You know what else works? A spray bottle set to mist and a fan pointed straight at you :p

The neighbors complaining about all the walking around naked yet? My place is the same deal, the shower tip with the air drying does work good.

I can think of a very limited number of scenarios where I find sweating enjoyable.

Buy a swamp cooler. You can get those pretty cheap if you get one of the smaller ones.

Something like this.
