Yes A/C is the best, one day i wish i have a house with Central A/C and no more putting A/C's out the windows.
Can't get a window unit unless the landlord puts different bars on the windows. Damn this city and its necessity of bars! I went to Target to get fans last night, I was too late though...all the big ones were sold out, I had to get a dinky 9" one...but its working to some degree. I think I posted a drunken thread about it last night.Go buy a window shaker. If that isn't an option buy a fan or two.

I was just at Menard's the other day buying a support for my window A/C, and I saw a "portable" unit there that you could put inside, and had an intake and exhaust hose. You could probably rig one of those up to work. I think it was $300-400 though.
the apartment on the other side of the building has bars on the windows that extend outwards at the bottom so an AC fits. I'm assuming they have the same landlord we do...I need to talk to her about gettin some of them. You and me both! I'm in South Philly so bars are necessary. I need an AC in our living room, but the stupid bars are in the way. Good thing for ceramic tile floors in our living room, thus, the room is rather cool but it's still @ 85 degrees.

I can think of a very limited number of scenarios where I find sweating enjoyable.
