Damn Windows --> Got a question

FOr some stupid reason, I decided to install WIN2K Pro SP2 and then IE6 on my other machine. Don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, both instals seem to go fine. I installed SP2, rebooted, installed IE6, then rebooted. Anyway, when the system comes up after rebooting, everything load fine. Just before windows is finished starting up, I get a blue screen, it then reboots itself. The same scenario keeps happening. So, I decided to boot in safe mode, which the machine did boot up fine. Anyway, I decided to remove everything that I had installed. I was able to uninstall IE6 just fine. Now, how do you uninstall SP2 and go back to SP1?

I forgot to mention that I also installed McAfee VirusScan at the same time as the SP2 and IE6. Anyway, in safe mode, I was able to uninstall SP2, IE6, and McAfee. Rebooted and I am back to where I was working just fine. I wonder which one of those 3 was causing the problem. Maybe a combination....

seems you figured it out. I have no idea what it was, might have been mcafee? who reallyknows

I would have formated and started over. I like starting over knowing that i got retarded blue screens (which I've been getting lately)

danny~!

Yes, I guess I figured it out, but I am back to where I was before I started. I guess I will try to install one at a time and see how the system acts. I atleast can narrow it down to 3 diff things.

Hmmm. I just installed McAfee VirusScan without the SP2 and IE6 and I get the blue screen after bootup. What the hell. I have another version of VirusScan. Gonna install that and then see what happens.

I know McAfee has issues with IE6, WebscanX the program that scans downloads won't work with it.
I don't think that there is a fix available yet, but apparently the latest version of McAfee seems to be OK even though it officially doesn't support IE6.
