OK. Why is that ?
I want to edit my msdos.sys file and I can't see it in win2k EVEN if I set the option to show all files. Any ideas to FORCE show EVERYTHING ?? :|
yeah of course I could use the dos prompt (as usual the best way around).
Hey... I can't beleive macs don't have any shell prompt ! LOL 😉 I would cry all day long !
Grrr... and I can't see io.sys too. Yeah, smart microsoft trying to hide things 🙂

THOR !!

It's under "Folder Options" or "Folder Settings" in the Control Panel. I'm not looking, so don't quote me on this. Once you get there, it's self-explanatory. They only did it so people wouldn't mess up their computers and blame MS 😉

Leon, I better not catch you pointing at my posts again! 🙂 🙂
Just kidding. Glad people agree with me enough to refer to me.

There are two settings you need to change.

"Show hidden files and folders" off
"Hide protected OS files" off
Should do the trick.

If that doesnt work you cann allways go into a command prompt and type attrib, should show every file, hidden or not.

Here's a tip, after you enable viewing all files, do a search for all .htt files on the drive. The .htt files are the reminder files about folders on your system that you shouldn't touch. Deleting them removes the reminders.

yeuemmaimai - ouch!!

Thor_Sevan - I hope this was a sarcastic statement:

Not a proponent of Mac anything, but OS X has one H3ll of a command line tool... good ol' BSD.

Gotta luv *NIX!! 😀

Since OSX is BSD based and obviously has a very powerful command line, and OS9 and less are crap based and don't have a command line, I think it's safe to assume he was referring to OS9 or eariler.

yeuemmaimai: Well.... sometimes you can find things you didn't knew in those books... seriously !!! hehe 😉 My eyes never saw the "hide protected files" thingy because it wasn't in the hidden files and folders tab.

Roche: dir /ah Thanks but I know how to use DOS. I just don't like to switch all the time explorer and command prompt. Hey, one thing I don't like about the command prompt of win2k is that it won't go directly to the directory you are looking at like in win98. you have to type the whole thing !

And yeah... I was referring to MACOS 9... i know i know... people say the 10'th vertion is good.
But I don't really care cause I don't like macs... its like a habbit ! LOL Give me a mac, I'll sell it next day and buy a 2X more powerfull PC.

But despite that, win2k is pretty good and STABLE ! Haven't tried winxp.
