Just ordered a new dual Xeon PC for a professor along with a kinda nice monitor - a Dell 1900 FP UltraSharp. The only thing that sucks is now that we have the monitor, I don't want to go back to my lousy 21" Trinitron. This 1900FP - beautiful resolution and even better aesthetics - is amazing. I want 15 for home. Damn.

Sweet! I ordered one too. Actually, it should be here any minute. UPS Tracking says it's "Out for Delivery." Can't wait...can't wait...:)

19" that's limited to 1280x1024?

Eww...

If I ever go with an LCD panel, it needs to have a native resolution of 1600x1200.

Oh yeah? Well I'm considering hooking up my new 51" HDTV to my PC if I can find a DVI cable anywhere locally.
21" Trinitrons aren't big enough when you've seen the light. Literally. My TV will blind ya heh. ;)

Refresh rates don't matter for LCDs.

My vision isn't good enough to handle 1600x1200 on a laptop display. With my contacts 1600x1200 is nice on my 18" viewable CRT.

My next monitor will be another CRT, a 20" viewable that will do 1600x1200 at 90+ hz.

Yep. Response time is the only thing that really matters nowadays.. and native res of course.

is the .30 dot pitch noticeable?

i'm seriously considering this monitor... i currently have a samsung 955df that can use some time off, and 1280x1024 is good enough for me

yeah the 19" Dell panel is at a great price point right now--I would have jumped on it too except for the native res. I run 1600 x 1200 on my 21" CRT at home, my 19" CRT at work and on my 15" laptop panel. I'm too used to it to step down.

I'm eyeing that Dell 20" FPD, but I'll hold off until it's under $1000.

Okay, there's alot of negative things that can be said about the 1900FP and LCDs in general, but there is NO WAY IN HOLY HELL that you could POSSIBLY call a 19" LCD ugly. Especially one with a super-thin bezel like this.

If I wanted to see a 19" LCD at 1280x1024 which B&M stores would have such an LCD on display?

I believe Best Buy has the Samsung 191T on display. This is the model that the 1900FP is based off of.

My IBM 17'' TFT screen can do 1280X1024. Shouldn't that monitor at least be able to do 1600X1200? And do you notice the .30 dot pitch?
