I don't see it on the news yet, but Eli-Lilly is closing the Sphinx laboratories in RTP, NC (Durham).

A few friends got to bail out before this started but one friend is getting laid off because a couple of months ago mgmt asked him to stay and he did.

I guess they want him to finish the project he is on and then they'll show him the door. Actually everyone there will be shown the door. No relo or job shifting within the company.

Did he get a Retention Bonus to stay on. Most companies Lilly's size make plant closing announcements months or years ahead of schedule. They do that because it allows them to classify costs as extraordinary. Then they give employees retention bonuses and such to stay on.
