He is not even a year old.

Yeah, they are supposedly very timid around strangers. Great dogs, if they were a little smaller I would consider getting one

Hmm, I don't think I would get a dog that big, those supersized dogs like Great Dane's or Irish Wolfhounds tend to not live so long. I own big dogs myself, my GSD/Rotti mix is about 100 pounds and my Golden Retriever is about 80 pounds. Best dogs I think I've ever owned but the one is getting up there in age(I've had my GSD/Rotti mix for 10 years coming up on Thursday, granted there is a few years left in her) but I can't see buying a dog that is only going to live 7 years old(heck 10 years doesn't seem that long), It only sets oneself up for heartache.

My st bernard is at 7.5 years and i can start to tell she's getting old. The best thing you can do though is keep their weight down and keep them active, a skinny dog tends to be a healthy dog.

Yup. I couldn't believe the size of him. 140lbs+ and still a puppy. Extremely timid dog, though.
He's a puppy. Train correctly he'll protect the family by ripping the throat out of any intruders.

I've wanted a couple of IW's for a while, but not in the climate I live in, and also because I do not have the room/space for them.

What is their typical life span?

When the counter is at eye level for big dogs, any tasty food left unattended has a tendency to disappear. 😛

Not with my 165lb Great Dane, whose head, as you can see, was bigger than mine, and who stood above table level . . . but then he was trained.

Good Danes are remarkable gentlemen -- it's been bred into their genes -- and hence very easy to train.

Mine existed in more than one small apartment and NEVER knocked a single thing over. His self-awareness was impressive, and was painstakingly bred into the best of the Danes.

Is it just me, or does the chick in the red shirt look like her shoe is on the wrong foot?

EDIT

Nevermind, her legs are crossed.

I wonder if the dog is thinking about making the little girl into a snack?
