Damn! Teeth falling apart

Shiat! Spent a bunch of last year (and the year's worth of dental insurance) getting my teeth up to snuff. Now in the last week, I've cracked two teeth :|
Discovered a chipped molar last week, no big deal. Then today, cracked a front tooth while eating a breakfast burrito 😕
Fortunately, the dentist got me in at lunchtime, and jammed in some temporary fillings..........which should hold until next year, when my insurance recharges 😉
Then it's time for crowns 🙁 Not really looking forward to that 🙁

:|

I have 10-year-old fillings that are starting to crumble, had my checkup in October and I needed 2 crowns. In fact that's where I was yesterday monring, paying money to be jabbed with needles and have my teeth ground down 🙁

Still, I'm glad the dentist caught the teeth before I needed root canal(s) or they broke on me.

Literally, "I feel your pain" 🙂 🙁

Man, we both are in the same exact situation, literaly.

I've been getting so much of my teeth up to par and I've also used up all my insurance.
I have to wait till next year to get the rest done.
One of which being a bridge built.....thats gonna cost some money.

I do now, and the hygenist practically pats me on the head for being a good-flossin' boy, but it's too late now that most of my teeth have deep fillings.

Brusing and flossing slow down the eventual decay, but fillings don't last forever and once they've been replaced a time or two there just isn't enough tooth left to fill it again.

If I knew in my teens what I know now... d'oh!

Not much pisses me off more than people who assume lack of attention when things happen beyond one's control. Teeth, among other things, are highly affected by genetics. I know people who brush once a day max and have perfect teeth as far as decay goes, where others brush 2-3 times daily and have loads of cavities.

Read the post above me.

actually, I'd prefer the shark way of growing teeth, get new ones everytime your old ones starts to fall off. (at least that's what I remember the sharks are capable of).

I feel your pain. I'm in the crowning phase myself now, getting 2-3 done each year. While not cheap, it's gets better then. I actually had a clean check-up a couple of months ago... first time in years.

ive been doing the same thing except WITHOUT insurance. Ive had 5 dental appts since august. one broken tooth that i didnt have insurance on to get fixed when it first happened now has to have a root canal or extraction. We easily spent over 1000k just since august.

teeth suck. what a crappy design, they should be impervious to rot caused by food.

Evolutionarily they are perfectly designed. They last long enough without thoughtful care to allow us to live long enough to breed (teens, twenties at the latest). They don't have to last any longer than that.

BTW, for all the teens who come here:

Brush three times a day and floss at least once a day!!! And ALWAYS brush before bed, especially if you are a mouth breather or have sinus trouble.

Trust me on this, the price you pay later in life is TOO high not to do this!

DAMMIT!!! Friggin temporary filling just cracked off again :| eating a damn piece of pizza :| :| Now I have all day tomorrow with a broken front tooth :| :| :|

Hope they can fix it again monday.....WTH, am I supposed to live on liquid food until I get caps?!?

I need to go to the dentist.. Haven't been there in years, I'm sure he would frown at me. I went through a period of mild depression when I was 16-17. I was drinking 4-6 cans of Mt. Dew a day, and I wasn't brushing my teeth very often. It hurt my teeth pretty bad.

It's just too expensive without insurance though. Need to find a job with good benefits..

holy sh!t! If my teeth cost me that much, I would get rid of them and use a blender for my food.

LOL...the visual of dumping a pizza in a blender, whipping it up and proceeding to drink it....<homer>hmmm...pizza</homer>

I used to not brush my teeth enough and consumed waaay to much sugar, already paying and I'm only 17 🙁

Have started brushing twice a day and mouthwash, just to make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Thank God I live in the UK, and I'm still in full time education, no bills whatsoever until I start paying taxes, works to get it all done now.

I reckon we should genetically modify humans to grow new teeth.
