Damn Taxes...

I got my bonus check today from my company. "Uncle Sam" took out 36% of it. Damnit...

I just had to complain about it. I know some people will come on here and say they had more taken out, but this is my rant...

TRP nice and high in the tax bracket are we? 🙂 You guys complain, but in Canada we have it worse. We make less money and pay more taxes 🙁

That's just damn crazy. Of my paychecks, usually about 29% gets taken out. I thought that sucked, but I guess I'm doing better than you guys.

I pay income tax, Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan - but yes our percentages are higher. I believe that I'm paying about the same as my brother and he makes a good bit more cash than me down in the states.

You're lucky your in Texas where taxes are "low". Here in Taxichusetts my bonus shrunk by 50%. 🙁

Windogg

"Taxichusetts" lol...

50% is outrageous though.

I guess this just goes to show you that it could always be worse.

I know that I am lucky to an extent (no state income taxes).

I beat all of you, my final numbers for 1999 fiscal was %52 in taxes. By that you must know that I live in Canada. In other words I paid more in taxes that I had revenue. Welcome to Canada

taxes suck. you know, taxes are unconstitutional, because when the constitutional amendment to allow for taxes was ratified, Utah wasn't officially a US state, so they didn't actually ratify the amendment, therefore taxing is unconstitutional. there were many court cases about it, that agreed that was true, but they basically said theres nothing they can do about it

LOL urbantechie.... Last week I heard on my local news that the lineup for an MRI was 7000+ so If I were to need an appointment I would have to wait at least 9 months and urgent cases would cut in front of that. Yes it's free but it comes at a price. Early detection is the key but 9 months is enough to kill you. Fortunetely the rich goto the sates and can get an MRI the same day. Talk about two tier health care, but it doesn't exists though.

Nic is right - its free, but it means that you get average performance. If you're rich in the states you get things done quickly...I almost am starting to endorse a two-tiered health care.

The way I see it is why should I pay the same amount in healthcare as a 300 lb chronic smoker? I'm a considerably lower healthrisk.

Our own prime minister is being a hypocrite when it comes to two tier health care. He openly brags and runs his mouth about one health care for all blah blah blah... the next time you see him ask him where he would go if he's sick. DING Not the local hospital, DING not the local clinic, a special military unit reserved just for ministers and MP's. But there's no two tier health care though. Let's all close our eyes and pretend it's not there.

Does anyone remember Premier Bourassa. Clasic case, he has skin cancer when they first detected it, he secretly flew to the U.S. on business... yea right. It was later known that it would have taken forever to get treatment in Canada. So he went to the U.S. and $PAID$ for it. Bunch of hypocrites.

haha

we pay between 45-55% tax in Denmark, yet I think our country works way better 🙂 of course, it's tough to get rich here, but few people get rich anyway.....enough money between people's hands here anyway.

damn police, damn firemen, damn military, damn Internet aka ARPANET...

I know it sucks, but compared to Western Europe its OK
So do you want to move to a third world country?

You can thank Clinton and his '93 tax raise....his last btw since the Republicans took control in '94. I get a major part of my income in bonuses. Clinton considered this 'excissive income' and raised the tax to the maximum rate rather than the bracket you are in.
