Damn stupid Quicktime, help with this stupid software

I have quicktime installed and whenver I open .png files in IE it loads up some ultra slow viewer instead of letting ie just view it.

What can I do to fix this?
 
open quicktime
go to edit > preference > quick time preference
choose browser plugin > mime settings > images > png, and uncheck the png box
do the same for others as necessary

dont know if it works or not because quicktime started to crash, totaly, reboot didnt work so I had to uninstal it.
