Damnit! Songspy used to be the only program that got through without any problems, it seems like they've nabbed it too, now :(

They let you connect to the search server, etc...but when it comes time to download from them, it just sits... blah

They wont bust you for that? At my college, my freshman year someone their computer up with an open share to their mp3 collection. It lasted about 3 months, then dissappeared. They busted the kid who's computer it was from what I heard, although I never heard of what happened to him. I'd guess they blocked his MAC address from connecting to the network, as they've done that in the past when people fall victim to those email worms.

I'm surprised that they haven't... although it does take an IT group that cares to actually look for it and do something about it, to begin with, though.

I'm glad they're all blocked here at Illinois. It's freakin' slow enough anyway on ResNet without people DLing large amounts of songs.

Its interesting to look at what some schools do about file sharing. My undergrad school took the position that they were and ISP and didn't want to regulate any content going over their network. Therefore, they didn't/haven't blocked any filesharing programs. The only reason they considered blocking filesharing traffic was that during the hay-day of Napster, nearly 70% of the network traffic was Napster traffic.

Here at ND, you have to be careful what you view over the network. The IT folks have packet-sniffers and can bust you for looking at improper content on their network (porn, warez, etc). I'm still not sure why I went to a Catholic University for grad school...

No one ever said that I haven't ever stolen MP3's either. It's just funny when people think they have the right to it and openly complain about it. :)

It's just a tough change when everything was open just last semester. Yah it's tough sh!t, but I'd still like to have the access.

Hmm...I wonder if HTTP-Tunnel is against the school Appropriate Usage Policy..;)

Blubster works fine for now..
