Why don't you read the thread about it. The Rays COULD have gotten there if they left before the storm like the commissioner's office asked them to, and like the Detroit Tigers managed to.

Yeah the best was Randy Levine actually whining about how NY should get the forfeit b/c of a HURRICANE. lmfao! Cry me a river Randy, you would sell you mother for a NY win in their current pathetic, overpaid state.

Nothing like classy Chokeland A's fans throwing debris all over the field for a delay of game...

Funny how Chokeland fans will also blame the umps for missing ONE call when their team intentionally walks Manny to get to Ortiz, the 2nd leading RBI man in the AL. Of course Ortiz punishes them with a bases loaded double smacked with the game on the line. Macha has to be a fvcking idiot!

That was a BIG call that they blew. Not just any ONE call. And yes, I'd walk Manny, only one of the best right-hand hitters in history, to face Ortiz.
Pick your poison, Manny or Ortiz. Either way they will be co-MVP's and Boston will win the AL East.

They didn't blow that call... the replay showed that Manny caught it. You could argue either way, it doesn't matter.... Boston will hit anyone from Arthur Rhodes to Dotel to Rivera, it doesn't matter, they will still win. They are a juggernaut that cannot be stopped...
What a fanatic... Even when the facts show otherwise.
The replay showed that he trapped it, even the Sox radio announcers agree.
It was too close to tell, even with the replay. Give the ump a fvcking break already, did you whine this much when the Yankees vs the Orioles was called a homerun when the little kid interfered with it? Didn't think so. They have an extremely tough job and will get the call right over 95% of the time, this one was a flip of the coin.

The "facts", that you are referring to, are that Boston leads the league in: Runs, OBP, SLG. And yes, Manny and Ortiz are the greatest slugging RBI tandem machine since the Bash Brothers of Oakland. Boston is close to having 5 starters with at least 10 wins, only the 2nd time ever. They are 18-2 since August 16th. Yankees had a 10.5 game lead on August 15th, those are the facts.

Agreed. Baseball has the human factor involved. It just sucks that the same thing happened the other way and that got called.

Can't deny any of that.

I read the article - I still don't give a shiat. I've got no problem with players staying with their familes when a giants farking hurricane is coming their way. Typical Yankee arrogance - I'm surprised they didn't just buy the fvcking hurricane and sent it towards Boston.

I was at the game, and it was a great game for 8 innings. The A's fans showed how classless they, and indeed fans of any team, can be. In the grand scheme of things, Manny's trap didn't matter. From the beginning, I figured the next catch would have ended up a double play anyway (tremendous catch at the wall, runner probably would have been closer to third than to first and as such may have been doubled off), and besides that the game ended a near blowout.

I would also like to say that the Yankees asking for, nay demanding, a forfeit is disgusting. The fact that they may refuse to play any make up games only makes them look worse. But hey, if they want to refuse to play, that WILL be a forfeit... If that's what they want, so be it, I'll take it 🙂.

Wrong, the IBB was not a mistake.

The mistake was the fastball over the middle of the plate to Ortiz.

And you're smoking some good stuff if you don't think the ball was trapped. It's a very close play to make in real-time, but most people who watched the slow-motion replay can see the bounce. Besides, this is Manny we're talking about here; besides his brilliant cut-off of Johnny Damon's throw-in, when's the last time he made a great catch?

Where have you been? He's made several this year alone.

He certainly hasn't made any in the decade prior. 😛 I was being facetious btw.

The yankees are going to take it up the a$$ next week.

whichever AL team mananges to win out will just get steamrolled by the cards in the world series.
Actually I'd take Boston's somewhat inferior offense and their 2 pitchers. Pedro and Schilling get 4 games between them in the WS, if not 5. Win 3 and the rest of the squad picks up the 4th.

In truth, the Ramirez Ortiz combo is no better than the Pujols Rolen duo, and IMO the latter is superior.

This year the Pujols/Rolen has been slightly better, but in the past 2-3 it's easily Manny/Ortiz. I just looked up all of their RISP batting avgs: Manny .333, Ortiz .340, Pujols .339, Rolen .373!! Freaking sick, even Yankee fanboy Sheffield is only at .324. Of course Boston as a team hit better than the Cards, .285 vs .277 and an .840 OPS vs .808. I'll take my chances with Boston's better hitting and Pedro/Schill on the mound in any 7 games series 😉
