Damn NT4 and its lack of USB suport!!

I hate that MS didnt setup support for USB on NT4. Its nearly impossible to find a multifunction printer that uses parallel and all new PDAs are USB too.

Is there any FREE software that allows USB support in NT!?!

A co worker bought an Ipaq 36xx with USB for his NT4 workstation, so i need a USB to serial. I found software, but it costs $79.00. I jus tlet him know that it would probably be easier to buy a serial cradle.

Yeah, I've seen these too. They're kinda pricey though if I remember correctly. I wanna say $30 - $40 at best buy?

Dude, you might as well just get Win2k for that kind of damage....or even XP.
Don't worry--NT4 doesn't not support b/c of some vast Gatesian conspiracy. USB was just a twinkle in someone's eye when NT4 came out in like 1994 or whenever. Was it really that long ago?
wow...

<< You can add USB support to NT 4.0...I thought everyone knew this 🙂 It ain't free though.

NT4 has had 7 service packs(6 and 6a) since its release, so its not as if they just built it and never added anymore to it. It should have been worked into 6a.

The service packs were more about fixing the bugs created by the previous service packs than about providing extra functionality. They rarely added any new stuff, although they sometimes changed or simplified things.
Additionally, it was also a tactic to try and get NT users to upgrade to Win2k. "If you want USB, use Win2k. That is all."

A company called bSquare makes a USB driver for NT4.
It's a commercial product though, and frequently the devices you're trying to connect still won't work because they lack the proper drivers to work with NT4.
