Damn, Netflix (or maybe the postal service) is fast!

I got my first three DVDs from them this saturday. Yesterday at about 3:00PM I dropped one of them in the outgoing mail box at work, and today at 7:55AM I got an email saying that they've received it and are going to send my next disc. IS that normal for everyone, or are they just really fast in this case?

well arent you close to the bay area.
i read somewhere when netflix first started people in SF would get DVDs the next day.
it took anywhere from 3-5 days it seems for me. my closest distrib facility was in Denver and that is about 450 miles from here.

My return address is Flushing, NY and there;s a local distro in the area somewhere too. I get mine almost Next Day... "watch them"... return them, and get my next set 2 days later.

I love Netflix.

i been with netflix for about 2 years now and use to get my DVD from a california office and i live in NY, would take 3 days. Now they have locations all over the place and if i time it correct i could get a new DVD with in one day otherwise 2 but not counting weekends because you could get one on saturday but they wont send out on saturday.

in all the service is just great.
my only problem i had is during Xmas season always a DVD gets lost?? i wonder who takes it because its never found.

I just upgraded my netflix to 8 rentals out at a time. My queue had like 40 things in them..so I want to knock it out fast before I downgrade back to the 3 rental plan.

I'm in Southern Oregon and the closest distribution center is in Washington.
Mine take 3 days each way. So it's usually a week from the time I send one back until I get another.
It would be nice if it was faster, but I still get 3 DVD's per week, which is plenty for me.

Was in the same boat as you, then they put in a distro center about 40 miles away. Now it only takes one-two days tops

They have at least 2 service centers north of the grapevine that I know of. One in San Jose, and in Bakersfield. I get DVD's from both of them here in Kingsburg, which is about 30 miles SE of Fresno. My turnaround time has been 1 day for all my dvd's except 1 shipment.

There is a netflix center right in West Sac. At least thats were the dvd's go and come back from. Check your envelopes.

I had them for the free trial and 2 months later. At least it was for me it was true that you start getting your dvd slower after a while. I was a heavy user.

Netflix just opened a distribution center here in Birmingham so now it's like no time to get movies.

No way I could watch them that fast! 🙂 I upgraded to the 5 out plan. 3 wasn't working for me, because I'd get them early in the week, send them back, and the weekend would come and I wouldn't get my next DVDs until the next week. With 5, I always have at least one or two to watch.

I also found out that when you upgrade, they don't charge you the higher price until the next full billing cycle... they don't prorate it, so if you upgrade the day after they bill your card, you get a month of free upgrade. 🙂

My turnaround time is usually a day after they receive my movies. There is a distro center about 10 miles north of my house. So far, the service rocks man!

how is it possible that i send them out today and they send me an email saying they received it at 8AM the next morning? last time i checked, post office doesnt deliver that early...unless it got delivered on the same day i sent it out, but only after their offices were closed.

I live in Columbus and the closest distro is in Cleveland. All my DVDs take 1 day as well... It's sweet.

my distro is in santa ana, and im in san diego. i dont understand why sometimes it takes a week for them to receive it.

if i send 2 out in one day, and 1 two days later, they appear to be received at the same time the week after.

That's what I was thinking. Is there a list on their site of where all the Disctribution centers are?

I'd imagine that they one or more of the below:
1. Are down tight with the USPS, yo, and have a special arrangement to get their stuff fast from whatever hub.
2. Are very close to a hub
3. Are a hub.

I think its the whole service throttling thing. Check out the fatwallet thread on the 15 bucks or something deal.
