I find that hard to believe. Linux is gaining more and more popularity each day, why would anyone want to stop that dead in its tracks?

I can see companies pulling out of the market of selling what can be downloaded for free legally, but Linux will never disappear completely, at least not for many years.

No he didn't. I was checking out the windows 2003 server and longhorn builds, I have just come to the conclusion that there is no hope for linux.. It's kinda depressing all this time spent learning the ins and outs of a Unix-like OS just to see it all come crashing down around me. Well I come to the conclusion that having only one OS avaible to me with no competers or even distant competaters is the best way to foward technology. The added risk of losing market share is just no worth it compared to the free-flowing of ideas and inovations comming from Microsoft. I mean why should .NET's progress should be slowed down in order to deal with something a trivial as security or hacked websites. All we have to do is make Hacking illigal and make it illigal for computer manufacturers to sell computers that can copy music CD's or provide a free way for crackers to manipulate there OS's to cause strife in the internet world... I mean the average person is to stupid anyways to deal with any more complex then a toaster. They'll just F**K it anyways with 3rd party software and inferior drivers. That's why there should be no 3rd party software, only MS and then maybe we all together with non-standard standards can sail happily into the 21st century and beyond... :p

And you don't know WTF you're talking about. Drag is being sarcastic (I hope), and if he isn't, then he's clearly wrong. However, the part about copying CDs is true; the other restrictions which would come along with that, which would (if combined with the CBDTPA) make it illegal to use an open-source OS, are even scarier.

EDIT: There are actually a couple of good ones on deadly.org:
Change PF's syntax from English to German.
Darren Reed to work on PF.
i386 port dropped in favor of HPPA.
OpenBSD's name changed to GNU/OpenBSD.
IPv4 dropped in favor of IPv6.

I thought these were the funny ones... Hopefully they are jokes ;)

hahah, the GNU/OpenBSD one i thought was hillarious, and theo's reply in the PF syntax thread is a pretty good one too heh

I didn't bother reading it, I just wanted to make sure it was from this year and not 1998 when it would have been funny. :p

LOL, indeed......... Well maybe not. I remember reading something like that in 1998, and no I didn't think it was very funny ;)
