I'm sure the collection of oddballs and characters that make up ATOT will have a cure. So, just how is a nail fungus eliminated? This one I have on my fingernail is one stubborn SOB.

Pull it out :D

But seriously go to your doctor & he can prescribe a lotion of somesort. Nail fungus takes a long time to treat because it's deep in the nail.

Cheers,

There are some excellent recently developed (last 10 years or so) topical anti-fungal treatments (ointments and creams).

However, for severe infections, particularly of large nails, a course of anti-fungal antibiotic tablets may be needed.

In both cases, treatment is often needed for several weeks, and should be used in conjunction with careful trimming of the affected nail together with scrupulous washing and drying, with attention to towel and footwear hygeine.

After completion of the course of treatment, it may take several months for regrowth of the nail and complete elimination of the fungus. Recurrence of infection is frequent and should be retreated early.

Contact your doctor for more information and for advise on which treatment would be appropriate for you.

No crap, had that stuff before, and I had to go to the Doc, and get a pill. Said that over the counter medicine wouldn't work, cause the fungus resides under the nail, and in your skin. Friggn' Gross IMO, but had to get rid of that unsightly junk.

I've been using a prescription nail laquer called penlac for about three months now. Twice it appeared the fungus had been eliminated but it has come back. Even while continuing the treatment. What a pain in the butt these things are. Never had it before, don't know how I got it.
I know there is now a prescription pill available, but it can have some serious side effects on liver function.
Maybe I'll just amputate the top joint of my ring finger. Yeah, that's it! See you later, I'm going to the kitchen.........
