OP, you should have put more thought into making your post sensitive to those of different backgrounds. The story should have gone "I was in a local building, and two people left with material goods. I was given to understand that they had not performed the traditional exchange of money for them, due to no fault of their own of course. This unhappy misunderstanding was not rectified by the time I left, which caused me a great deal of anguish, once again due to no fault of any of the parties involved."
